To clarify clinical significance of high mobility group box 1 level in inflammation asthma-chronic obstructive pulmonary disease overlap syndrome. A total 124 asthma patients acute attack (asthma group), chronic exacerbation (chronic group) and syndrome (asthma-chronic hospitalized the department geriatric respiratory medicine second our hospital from January 2020 to June 2022 were enrolled. The C-reactive protein level, white blood cell counts concentration measured compared three groups. relation serum or was assessed through Pearson correlation. forced expiratory volume % predicted 1/forced vital capacity general data presented no difference among groups (p>0.05). elevation relative those (p<0.05). a positive association with negative High specimens patient’s presents marked elevation, suggesting that has crucial diagnosis therapy

Overlap Syndrome in Respiratory Medicine: Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are highly prevalent chronic diseases in the general population. Both are characterized by similar mechanisms: airway inflammation, airway obstruction, and airway hyperresponsiveness. However, the distinction between the two obstructive diseases is not always clear. Multiple epidemiological studies demonstrate that in elderly people with o...
متن کاملPhenotype of asthma-chronic obstructive pulmonary disease overlap syndrome
Many patients with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have overlapping characteristics of both diseases. By spirometric definition, patients with both fixed airflow obstruction (AO) and bronchodilator reversibility or fixed AO and bronchial hyperresponsiveness can be considered to have asthma-COPD overlap syndrome (ACOS). However, patients regarded to have ACOS by spirometri...

Asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are highly prevalent chronic diseases in the general population. Both are characterized by heterogeneous chronic airway inflammation and airway obstruction. In both conditions, chronic inflammation affects the whole respiratory tract, from central to peripheral airways, with different inflammatory cells recruited, different mediators produ...

Although asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are two of the most common airway obstructive diseases in clinics, they differ from each other in clinical characteristics and pathogenesis.
